Heather Fraser Hurtt, LMFT

I am passionate about sharing the gift of therapy with those seeking assistance. Therapy is an avenue that can provide help, support, and direction at pivotal times. I collaborate with individual adults, teens, children, and families to identify and address these needs. I feel honored to work with my Clients and help them move forward in their lives.

I have a special interest in working with people who have experienced physical and emotional trauma, have mood disorders, attention issues, neurodivergence, learning disabilities, or are going through life transitions. I also enjoy helping Clients succeed and thrive through and peak performance training, including work, sports, college, and career launching.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and being outdoors, especially on or near water. The beach is a favorite destination. I have two teenage boys who keep me engaged, while my husband and two affectionate dogs help keep me focused on the simple joys of life. When I have some time to myself, I enjoy reading, gardening, and soaking up the beauty of nature.

My Education & Experience

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a BA in Psychology and an MS in Counselor Education. I began working in a private practice setting, as an MFT Intern, in 2001. I received my licensed and established my own practice in 2004. I conduct sessions in-person and via telehealth. I have had previous experience in residential care settings, community counseling agencies, county mental health programs, and as a consultant in public and private school settings.

I have specialized training in trauma informed therapy and am EMDR II Certified. I meet my younger client’s needs through play and art therapy. I enjoy supporting clients of all ages with insight and integration work through Dream Therapy.

My background in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis has aided me in supporting clients with their educational needs and to work with Clients who have learning, developmental, and mental disabilities, as well as their families.

I also enjoy teaching and coaching Clients to succeed and thrive in relationships, work, sports, and life transitions. As a former collegiate soccer player, I support Clients in performance enhancement with work, sports, and academics. I am especially interested in providing support for those in the helping professions, such as medicine, therapy, and education. This includes mentoring and counseling aspiring AMFTs and ACSWs through the licensing process.

I am a professional member in good standing of The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), The International Association of EMDR (EMDRIA), and I am EMDR II Certified. I am Licensed in California #LMFC40638.
